Propitiousness

by Marco Scibelli

If I should say to you:
"Feel better, my sweet, sweet,"
Would you? Every soul of all of time
Cannot be convinced by the encouragement
Of a mere peer.
This is my homecoming,
This is the new beginning.
The only goal of any life
Is to be filled with rich memories
On which to look back:
To look back in fondness,
Or to not look back at all.
Out of my heart, I'll reminisce;
Out of my mind, I'll return to you;
Brief, but forever held, like a flickering candle
That flutters as the door shuts.
