by S. E. Hart
he will come to me
and lift scars from
my battered body
my calcified heart
my war-torn mind
there will be no more tears
I will shed not another
he will trace poetry
on my skin with his fingertips
track the lines of times
that were once unkind
and re-frame the maimed
with his gentle kisses
I will sing as angels do in heaven
of my freedom from chains
and the bowels and trenches
of once begotten pain
I will be set free
and I will sing
float through the skies and greet
each star with a kiss
press my lips against each one
and then sing, I will sing
and when I return to him
he will embrace me with his
poetic prophecy and insatiable glory
a lifetime of ecstasy set to fire
for I am all that he desires
and for my lover
for him I will sing

My Own Worst Enemy
by S. E. Hart
i.
I fuck all the wrong boys
and slither from beneath their sheets
while quietly they do sleep
in sickening satisfaction
I down bottle of pills and vodka for relief
just a twist and a splash of juice
to sweeten the esophageal erosion
oh how it stifles the internal implosions
so that I may find a new boy
one that's perfectly wrong
which makes him so perfectly right
to play chicken with my flight or fight
I am my own worst enemy
ii.
don't hate me
but how dare you
try to
love me
don't walk away from me
but how dare you
even attempt to
stay with me
don't let me go
but how dare you
think for one second
that you could contain me
I am my own worst enemy
iii.
I circumvent the most honest of men
castrate their efforts in mere moments
leaving them hanging
by feeble threads
for hell hath no fury
like a woman scorned
yet I easily scorn myself
threefold
'suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not,
for of such is the Kingdom of God'
only it is I who have locked myself out
and scheduled my own burning
I am my own worst enemy

The She
by S. E. Hart
She moves her body
like a hypnotic dancer
and ties up all your wet dreams
with her ribbons, bows and her cancer
Venus is a whore for the show
will you admit all the things
that you wish you could know?
She catches your ego
between her teeth
and chews you 40 times
between her top and bottom row
Justice is a bitch like that
does it turn you on when
I talk about her like it is tit-for-tat?
She smiles with vacant
empty eyes
and dies with hips full
of weeping, bitterness and lies
Fate is morbid that way
would you still fight
to bring her another day?
You're lying.
She moves her body
like a hypnotic dancer
and ties up all your wet dreams
with her ribbons, bows and her cancer
Venus is a whore for the show

Invisibility
by S. E. Hart
of somethings
an abstract no one
left to wander amongst
the everyones and someones
I am invisible
the surreal contention
you find divisible
I fall apart
cascades of revelations
ill-conceived across a series
of tragic escalations
there is no remedy
with nothing more, evermore, nevermore
to be found of me
I am a ghost
wandering your halls
railing against the echoes
rebounding off of your calloused walls
you never heard me
I was never here
I am a nothing
lost somewhere in a seaof somethings
an abstract no one
left to wander amongst
the everyones and someones
I am invisible
the surreal contention
you find divisible
I fall apart
cascades of revelations
ill-conceived across a series
of tragic escalations
there is no remedy
with nothing more, evermore, nevermore

Survivalism
by S. E. Hart
I am, I am, I am...
a schizophrenic
schism
an enigmatic
prism
catching your eye
drawing you down
drawing you in
to craving a wish
that will never come true
I am, I am, I am...
a victimizing
victim
a recycled
rhythm
repeating and depleting
the same old,
same old
tried but
still true
yet nothing is ever new
I am, I am, I am...
merely
survivalism
I am, I am, I am...
a schizophrenic
schism
an enigmatic
prism
catching your eye
drawing you down
drawing you in
to craving a wish
that will never come true
I am, I am, I am...

victim

yet nothing is ever new
I am, I am, I am...

Depraved Indifference
by S. E. Hart
I struck him once
and he recoiled with a smile
a sly, cold expression
some degenerative connotation
that he rather liked it
so I struck him again
and I watched the blood ooze
from his lip
as his eyes began to shift
to a state of thwarted arousal
and heightened confusion
that tinkered on the brink
of the realization of my own
inner depravity
but I wasn't satisfied
so I struck him again

as his eyes began to shift

A Thousand
by S. E. Hart
stretched between myself
a thousand ways within and without
a twisting contortion that blooms
iridescent in your sight
with a thousand heartbeats inside of my chest
flutters of moments and seconds
crescendos of life and atoms smashing
together in perfected sequential order
I give way under the
weight of your thousand stares
lost somewhere in your eyes and
traversing an elliptical ring around
your misplaced dreams
take hold of me and we can
live and make love in ecstasy
a collision of senses and sensations
just you and I
and the heartbeats beneath our chests
for a thousand years before we die
stretched between myself
a thousand ways within and without
a twisting contortion that blooms
iridescent in your sight
with a thousand heartbeats inside of my chest
flutters of moments and seconds
crescendos of life and atoms smashing
together in perfected sequential order
I give way under the
weight of your thousand stares
lost somewhere in your eyes and
traversing an elliptical ring around

take hold of me and we can
live and make love in ecstasy
a collision of senses and sensations
just you and I
and the heartbeats beneath our chests
for a thousand years before we die
