My Dilemma

by Morgen Streur

My dilemma is enigma, I search inside self
For the path and the answers to the cards I was dealt
Suited up in the club with some hearts on my sleeve,
Drinking Ace of Spades, feeling like a king with my queen
All my Jacks got tens, I can show you what I mean
I'm really quite straight because I did it with a team
That's a royal flush too, I don't have to mention diamonds,
See we all decked out 'cuz we all put the time in

Now, what'd you say your name was? and where you came from?
MJ? Morgen John? yeah, I'm the same one
I am the ace of the city by the lake better get to know my face
I took over the game without 'caine, just some knowledge
Ancient of the sort, if you're able for the course
I advise ye be wise as a serpent of the court
Otherwise you may find yourself far too off course
With no hope of return, I just sit back on my sojourn

As I wonder outloud, "When will it be yo' turn?"

Drunken Love

by Morgen Streur

At least you have the sort of spirit that pours me lyrics
& I owe nothing.
That's something worth discovering.
In a world more than some things, I wonder If I am nothing?
Or am I worth your loving?

That's what scares me the most.
I read your blog-posts and I know I've seen a ghost
Self control was always my slight of hand
I can say...
"I'm good, I'm good! I got this man..."

Then 12 hours later I can't recollect half my night,
or slamming those drinks out of fright.
Fright of what you may ask? Being myself inside the past.
That's the ghost I'm letting go, I know I can be sober
I know it's self control, and your love is my cola.

Ice Coffee

by Morgen Streur

I made the coffee just the way you like it
I drank too much last night so I may have thrown a jealous fit
And scrolled up through your sidekick
If I did, I don’t remember
All I know is your love is my November
There are so many thanks to give
For this and that, from past to present

I drove that other girl mad
I broke up with her the night before her birthday
She cried, and called me the worst person alive
She said I always left her, at the worst times
And if I really loved her I never would’ve done that
She’s right and I’m wrong in many ways
She even hired a counselor to keep the thought of me away

I still cause destruction everywhere I go
A trail of broken hearts line the rivers I like to flow
Alone, I’m getting better.
These veins of mine are leather
Forever tethered to an anchor,
Concrete in its nature, imbalanced in its soul,
if you ever find my heart… It may never know

Light Up

by Morgen Streur
I struggle with my thoughts, there's so much runnin' through me
Transformer in disguise I wonder if you knew me in a past life
Are you, confused by the new me? [Music is my duty]
I can't force anything and everything is mine but I'm just not satisfied.

[Passerbys pass me by] Am I sent to pacify? Was I meant for this life?
Or am I trippin' skippin' parties thinkin' they won't miss me anyway?
Every day I write new verses at work & then I come home but it doesn't feel so,
Back to my workflows... guess I'm Gung-ho, International-no not even local

Cuz I move too fast, my motives are loco, trained to be a locomotive
Leavin' trails of smoke wherever I go I'm solo [oh no I'm alone]
I been here before so much I almost prefer it
I use it as deterrence so I don't get close to anybody anymore

So I light up...

Water Spouts

by Morgen Streur
Why do conversations evaporate so easily?
Is it because we’re made of water that words & ideas float so freely,
on top of ear drums and off of tongue tips?
Are we affected so deeply by the current of our own thought-streams,
that dreams, with friends and loved ones, cease to matter in the long run?

The strongest swimmers survive
Through tsunamis and in rip-tides, I know that I’ll be fine….
But are you wrapped up in that vortex?
Are you numb from all the pretense?
To sensation I say “Good riddance,” I’m severing this poem at my cortex.

DROWNING

by Morgen Streur

I'm afraid to show you how deep my feeling goes
Already
How soon is too soon?
For a heart overflowing will spill eventually
Over levees manmade or natural
'Be patient' I tell myself
But these sandbags might prevent me from unleashing the greatest flood Heaven's ever sent me...
Swept away in a rush of liquid courage
I would drown to save you one sip of what I'm stirring
One glimpse above the water
a rip-tide so endearing
Enduring til the last moment
A moment ever-nearing

Modus Operandi Part I

by Morgen Streur

Yeah I'm not just sayin' it I'm livin' a vivid dream
-I'm not just playin' I created a crazy team
A mixtape's last on my list to do
I run 2 companies work for 2 more,
I'm only 24 but yes a true boss
Never used brute force yet I will if I must as a last resort
wordsmith movin' far ahead of my thoughts,
if your lady likes me take away the if quick
you're bein' double crossed,
Hot sauce,
I'm a double O agent
- Cue the Molotov cocktails,
"Mazel Tov!"
leave em shakin', not stirred
- My word is Bond, James
Don't forget my name is John Wayne,
Dont let my music confuse you,
It's a grown man game, who is you?
