while some people
sit and wonder what to wear to the ball
some other folks
don’t have anything to wear at all

if some people
point and ponder
as they have another bite
some other folks
can’t afford to have an appetite

     don’t tell me that
     you deserve
     everything you’ve got

     if everyone
     got what they deserved
     we might lose a lot

did you ever wonder
like i do
who chose the teams
who made the rules

     don’t tell me that
     you deserve
     everything you’ve got

     if everyone
     got what they deserved
     we might gain a lot
