by Richard Schnap
There was the one who shattered
The portrait that an artist
Had sketched of us together
In happier times
And the one who answered
The door one dark midnight
And whisper to somebody
To call her next day
And the one who published
The ad in the paper
For men I’d discover
When I got home from work
I think of them as I learn
How archeologists have unearthed
Two skeletons in a tomb
Forever entwined
