We never played Holi
but I remember clearly
walking in the cities of our heart
Its streets that we ran through
splashing colours on each other's emotions
and feelings
I, in the hope that they would never get removed
You? I don't know what you wished for
but hope you wished the same
Stains spreading wet and warm on our dresses
in which appeared our dreams
with all the colours of the sun
our expressions unread
and our words
unwritten, speaking of unspoken love

Thanks Jawaid bhai :)
DeleteLove it. I want to preserve those strains. But slowly and slowly they are getting smaller and smaller.
DeleteThe colors of the poet's desires, dreams ... rich, vibrant, unabashedly wanton in their longings, have seeped right into our hearts too.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful, lovely poem ....
A joyous celebration of love.

Deletethat deep echo of reminiscence was exactly what I was after esp as it is of an imaginary scene, sheikha!
ReplyDeleteThe celebration of Holi in one's mind... How much more vibrant and multihued it can be with the exquisite colors of so many varied emotions that can never be replicated in real life... Being drenched in love without touching a drop of water... What a beautiful poem! What wonderful expression of thought! Loved it!!!
