Tell Me Something I Don’t Know

by Bobbie Troy

tell me something I don’t know

but not about keeping secrets to preserve dignity
about burying truth with illusion
about hiding fear with prejudice
about wanting to belong to the crowd
about being haunted by love
about being hounded by heartache
about seeing logic but not accepting it
about being alive but not feeling

tell me something I don’t know
before I go

  1. Great work! As with any writing I'm sure we all see different things in it. I couldn't help but think of current events when I read this. Particularly the Wall Street rip offs and Penn State scandal. Burying truth with illusion, belonging to the crowd, seeing logic but not accepting it...

  2. So true Bobbie, once we peel away those miserable secrets, we get to the main one, our being here, a vertiginous thought...

  3. So true! It's sad that too many of us will never admit to having those feelings. Great poem!

  5. How true! The thing is that when one does try to live according to those believes often times find oneself isolated. People don't like having their secrets exposed, their fears known, their feelings shared. That makes them feel naked and vulnerable. It is considered weakness.
