Flirting with happiness,
I’d most likely be struck by lightning.
This morning there was a moment,
but it was just my imagination.
A tiny smile escaped
for a moment and the moment
vanished. As the morning gave way
to afternoon and afternoon to night
I saw a bird eating magnolia
flowers. The bird quickly fled
when it saw me stare. Taking
the fragrant flower
in its belly, I followed
the little bird with my eyes.
I waited for lightning to
strike me down where I stood.

Great! So much to say for a single moment.
